Executive Committee Member Honored

The Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs (PSAB) announced the receipients of the Association's prestigious local government service awards. Montoursville Mayor John Dorin was among the individuals honored at PSAB's 102nd annual conference in Hershey.

Dorin received the 2013 Carol Sambol Distinguished Service Award for his dedication and service to Montoursville Borough and the Lycoming-Sullivan County Boroughs Association. Dorin was elected to office in 1982. Prior to being elected mayor, he served four years on Montoursville Borough Council. He is also a past president of PSAB, and has been active in advancing legislative priorities.

Dorin was awarded the 2014 Carol Sambol Distinguished Service Award which was named in honor of Carol Sambol, who serviced 37 years on Baden Borough Council and was a past president of PSAB. Nominations were judged on the impact of the nominee's accomplishments on the borough; the extent of the gain in economy promoted by the nominee's work, the amount of personal sacrifice required and the efforts made beyond the call of duty and the success of the nominee in the face of inertia or opposition on the part of others or the controversial nature of the subject.
